I think it's in both a large collection and just the big book from the show...I'll have to ask my friend and or drama teacher when I go to school tomorrow!

I have an audition coming up in a few weeks (SOON is all I know) for the kids version of Les Mis. I have 2 songbooks that I own (Gypsy and The Wild Party), and my friend is showing me some of hers tomorrow in school. Any suggestions? (I can't really GO for any parts, and I originally wanted Eponine, but I'd love to sing Cosette too. I donno. Madame Thernardier; that part would be FUN!)
I just want to do this for the audition experience, my first community theater audition ever! Since I'm going to be in Paris for most of July, I'll miss lots of rehersals and, ironically, the performance. Les Mis, Paris, France, haha... I just want to audition and see what they think of me. As a self-improvement sort of thing. And for moral support for my friend. -gyps

I always thought that song was just a little boring. It is pretty, though. I'll try it out. -gyps

Wed. at school, I was on my way to 1st period when my friend, Sarah came running up to me shouting "Zach! Guess What!", then she handed me a paper that said "Auditions: THE WIZARD OF OZ"! Turns out that the Kokomo Civic Theatre has decided to do Oz as their summer musical. Auditions are Saturday, May 22nd & i'm already prepping! I've been doing some fine tuning on my voice. I am so excited, especially after my drama teacher told me we couldn't do Oz for our spring play because of money.
The only trouble is, i've never auditioned for a musical before. I wanted to know if anyone could give me any tips on musical auditons &/or singing in general. I'm auditioning for the Scarecrow, his range is B flat to F sharp, but I really have no clue what my range is. I've been rehearsing the song every night & my mom says I sound great, but I recorded my self singing & played it back & I thought it was horrible, my moms said it was poor mic quality. Any pointer would be appreciated.
PS-Sorry, Gypsy, I completely forgot about this being a designated Audition thread.

This may sound crazy (maybe not) but I think that if you're really doubting whether or not you sound good (and range things) that you should go see a voice teacher or your school's music teacher, or even drama teacher if they know about voice...that way they can tell you if you sound good and the voice or music teacher could help you figure out what your range is and if it would be good for you to play the Scarecrow. Hope I've helped!

Voice coach was the 1st thing that came to mind, but I knew I couldn't afford it. I sang to a few people over the weekend & they say I sounded just fine, my Aunt is in our Church choir & said I sound pretty good & that I have the perfect range for the Scarecrow. Whenever I sang before I thought I sounded OK, so I recorded myself singing & thought it was horrible, but no one ever sounds right when recorded on a low-quality computer microphone & because I have never actually sang seriously before I assumed I couldn't, so it was all just a case of reassurence & I feel much better now that everyone is telling me I sound great.

ok, i'm auditioning for the play Peter Pan . well, i need a song and a monologue. the wicked music book will be out before auditions, so (tehe) i can sing Popular, but i'm not sure if i wanna...help! also, for the monologue, something kinda childish, not mature, so any ideas would be mucho appreciatorified. OH! I have a great song that would give the impression of a young kid. It's called 'When I get my name in lights' from Boy from Oz. It'd be a GREAT song! I would say go with Popular, but as it is the newest big thing on Broadway, it might end up a LOT of people end up using it. Plus, well... erm... you're a guy, right?. You never wanna sing a song that is sung by the opposite sex. It just... gives off the wrong impression. I mean, how weird would it be if you got up there and sang 'I'll teach you the proper poise, when you talk to boys, little ways to flirt and flounce!'. Yeah, if I were a director that would weird me out, llam. Anyway, just a thought! If you wanna listen to the song (get my name in lights), IM me. Also- to all the people that have the monolouges, could I possible get a copy of whatever you have? Would that be to much of a hassle??

10 Days until my Oz audition! I'm sooooooo nervous/excited!!! I REALLY, REALLY hope I get this part, i've always wanted to do Oz, especially as the Scarecrow, that part has a lot of meaning to me, but I won't go into the details, you don't wanna hear my life story.

Well, that director was extremely biast. NOT ONE person under 16 was asked to stay, they made us sing 1st, then only asked a few to stay. I was the only boy under 17 who auditioned, I was the only one who sang w/ out looking at a piece of paper, a bunch of other people messed up the lyrics even though they had the song book. He also made it VERY clear that he had favorites. Sure these people can sing, BUT CAN THEY ACT?! This is a play, not American Idol. He said "Just because I don't ask you to stay, it doesn't mean you don't get a part, I just don't need to hear you anymore." So he got rid of most of the good Dorothys. Everyone was telling me how well I did. So he sent me home w/ out even seeing my acting. We find out who-plays-who at 5. Oh, well...he had his favorites, he chose them, his loss, not ours.
