On Extreme Home Makeover, one of the designers was looking at a God awful lamp and said: "I'll get you my pretty!" Too funny. I saw that, and I thought about Verdigris, llam! On Jeopardy they had a question where they were looking for the author of Oz, I belive. I heard "Oz" and the answer "L. Frank Baum"

Well, this really isn't a tv show, but it was on tv! I was watching the AMC DVD-TV version of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, where they put the little tidbits of behind-the-scenes info at the bottom of the screen. They compared Wonka to the Wizard of Oz based on his mysteriousness and the fact that he's mysterious due to his late appearance in the movie. And later in the movie they mentioned that they considered Joel Grey for the role of Wonka. I thought that was interesting.

Was watching Angel reruns today- the fourth season ep Orpheus, where Angel lost his soul and Willow comes to town to get it back for him. During the scene where Willow is trying to banish the evil Cordelia/master-bad evil-voice-thingy, Cordelia looks up with her evil white eyes and says "oh, you wanna go, Glinda?" Thinking of Willow as Glinda is rather amusing

This isn't really a reference, but in the RSC Wizard of Oz script(for the stage adaption of the film), After the Witch spots the feet of her sister under the house & gasp Glinda says "You recognize her?", the Witch says "Of course I do! Only SHE would wear those shoes w/ THOSE SOCKS!" I just thought that was funny because it sounds more like something Glinda would say.

The other nite I was watching "Who's Line Is It Anyway?" and one of the scenes from a hat had something to do with Dorothy and what other things she would say to the Wizard..It was somewhere along those lines.

DSO rolling on the floor watching South Park tonight. It was the ep where Ike gets taken back to Canada at Christmas so the four guys go to Canada and the entire thing is a spoof on WoO. Soooo funny. Instead of a Wicked Witch there's Scott the Dick, instead of the Yellow Brick Road there's the Only Road. The scarecrow is a Mountie, the Tin Man is a French Canadian mime, and the Lion (in a spooky forest that's supposed to be Newfoundland) is a Newfie. The Canuck spoofs were so funny. They had the munchkins and everything. And the Emerald City was the Parliament bldg. Sooo great!

Okay...I'm pretty sure these haven't been posted! Okay so on Who's Line (isn't everything from them) there are a few funny things. 1) They held a press confrence and Colin had to figure out who he was. It turns out he was the tinman giving a speech on how he and Dorothy were getting married. He didn't get the last part so here's what followed C: and I'm dating Dorothy Drew: Better C: I'm sleeping with her!??! Lol...that was funny.
Then last night they just had some standard crakcs...but that one was tops!

On Sabrina, The Teenage Witch Harvey ends up on a bean stalk, and on the other end is a wicked witch (she calls herself that). When Harvey and Sabrina run away from her, Harvey throws a bucket of water on her. It doesn't work, and Sabrina says that's because this is real life, not fantasy. Melting witches as fantasy is good news for Elphaba, isn't it?

Arrrgh, so annoying! I was reading a Nora Roberts book today and the characters were talking about using magic wands and the possibility that they were witches, and after one character choppes up an ash baseball bat to make magic wands, another character says she's 'Martha Stewart meets Glenda the Good Witch.' Glenda?? GLENDA??? THAT IS SO WRONG!!! That isn't the first WoO reference in an NR book, either, but it's the first WRONG one. Woo, okay I just needed to vent that cuz it made me laugh in a really annoyed way!

People commonly make that mistake since Glinda isn't a real name, but Glenda is. (Coincidentally, Glenda means "pure and good.")

Two book references
-I read the book "The Insiders" and it's a very good book, but I was completely mad when one of the characters called another character "Glenda the Good Fairy". I could live with Glenda, I've seen her called that before, but FAIRY?! That is a big no-no. I was thinking about writing to the author and complaining. But I decided not to...becuase I was too lazy
-Right now I'm reading "Confessions of a Shopaholic" -- the story of my life I tell you -- and she was talking about needing to by a jacket "before it melted away, like the Wicked Witch of the West". That made me SLC really loud.
That's it.
