Broadway.com does crazy stuff like that every year....but if they were going to do Wicked as a non musical movie (more book-based) I could see it. That's exactly what I've been saying!!! And the first Glinda that came to mind was Heather Grahm. So she hasn't had the best roles in the best films, but she does have potential. Not to mention she's just bursting at the seams with Galinda-ness. -gyps |

Broadway.com has just reported that Jolie (Tomb Rander, Girl Interrupted) and Witherspoon (Legally Blonde) are going to be Elphie and Glinda in the new Wicked movie. It's not showing up for me.. what was it? I think you have to click on the "3.jpg" link in the box. It's a banner thingy of Hollywood stars as Wicked characters. Cute. I love the Heath Ledger as Fiyero and Judi Dench as Morrible  I could also see Maggie Smith as a kick-ass Morrible ;D I'm abstaining from comment on the Reese Witherspoon and Natalie Portman castings. |

Some of their casting was really great...I could see Natalie Portman as Nessarose, Elijah Wood as Boq, and Heath as Fiyero...the rest I'm not so crazy about...but I love the idea of Maggie Smith playing Morrible...that would be great! Now for Elphaba...Gregory himself has said Demi Moore...but I just can't see it...oh well, they'll just have to get Idina to do it...poor them, stuck with that untalented girl  |

I think they should use the original Broadway cast if they do a Wicked movie, it just seems right.

ahh i think if they did a wicked movie with actors such as demi moore or ashton kutcher it would ruin it!! i dont noe why but i think it would only be right if idina nd cheno played elphie nd galinda.

But seriously, I know many people who felt that Chicago the movie, completely ruined it. I hope that's not the same with Wicked!!

I hope that's not the same with Wicked!! Yeah the same thing is happening with the Phantom movie now too. Michael Crawford isn't the Phantom so now all the die-hards are boycotting, and people are talking about how it's totally going to ruin the play now. That had better not happen with WIcked! |

Base it on the book, and you'll be problem-free. Well, at least free of the problems the play would have if you base it on that instead.

True. But the book is so complex and long, they should turn it into a TV mini-series instead, lol.
If Wicked was a movie, what do you think it'd be rated? If they based it on the musical, probably PG or PG-13. Book, probably rated R, lol, for those steamy Fiyeraba scenes ;D
