supposedly they do since they're the distributors and all, the others on the list are Emmy Rossum and Mandy Moore(both considered for glinda) according to gossipers on the broadway message boards, but I don't think it's true, I think they do have a list and at the moment the OBC and 2+3 BC are the top on it(no movie industry would be than stupid not too) since somewhere there's mention of a contract(no idea where-it 's been claimed many times though)
I think a movie won't come out soon as hairspray and producers are, it'll be awhile, like a few years. And it's a risky time for movie musicals too, industries don't know if the hype's going to die off soon or grow stronger(like superhero movies). And with 62 million in less than two years, they don't want to do anything that will jepordize that like a movie that will give people an excuse not to go to the show. Now a movie based on the book, then that's another story, but movie musical, not happening anytime soon as long as the show is selling tickets. Really, think about it, there's no need for a movie, is there?(maybe a LEGAL and professional taping of the show so non NYC fans can have that to get by while waiting for the touring cast lol)

Yes, this is an old thread I'm bringing back, but the title fits. According to Stephen Schwartz, a movie isn't going to be made anytime soon since they want to see how Wicked translates around the world. Here's the whole article: www.playbill.com/news/article/100672.html
