If Wicked was a movie, what do you think it'd be rated? If they based it on the musical, probably PG or PG-13. Book, probably rated R, lol, for those steamy Fiyeraba scenes ;D i think if they did it on the musical exactly how it is, it would probably be PG...but WOW if it was like the book with all those little details on Elphaba and Fiyero's sexual life...def...some rated R scenes right there..LLAM

...the book is so complex and long, they should turn it into a TV mini-series instead, lol. A while ago they made Gregory Maguire's "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister" into a Made-For-TV-Movie type deal. If it was done the right way (Rule #1: No Demi Moore!), I definitely think "Wicked" ( the book) could make for a great cable mini-series.

Yeah I'd definitely watch that ;D As amazing as Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel are, I adore the characters of Elphie and Glinda even more, and I'd love to see Elphie's story out there in a mini series so that everyone (even those silly people who <gasp> don't like musicals could be introduced to the 'real' Wicked Witch of the West A book-related mini series I could handle easily, but a musical version without Idina and Kristin would take a little more getting used to

I think you have to click on the "3.jpg" link in the box. It's a banner thingy of Hollywood stars as Wicked characters. Cute. I love the Heath Ledger as Fiyero and Judi Dench as Morrible I could also see Maggie Smith as a kick-ass Morrible ;D I'm abstaining from comment on the Reese Witherspoon and Natalie Portman castings. DSO, I could SO see Natalie Portman as Nessa and Elijah Wood as Boq. That would be so perfect!

Llam, it's true! I can see Natalie Portman and Elijah Wood in those roles. I could even see Reese Witherspoon as Galinda *gasp* only because sometimes Galinda reminds me of Elle Woods from "Legally Blonde". But I'm stuck on who should play Elphaba (NOT Demi Moore!). No one can bring to the role the passion and intensity that Idina does! Llam.

The question really remains though, if they make a musical version of the movie insteadof a strictly book based movie...who in Hollywood has the pipes to bring to the roles what is vocally required?

I think we can safely say not Natalie Portman or Elijah Wood ;D Or maybe they can and I just sounded really really really mean! But that's why maybe a book version would be better cuz no one wants bad singing to ruin our favourite musical!

I had a realization of who *could* be in the musical version: Jennifer Garner! She's a really good singer...she sang in a first season episode of Alias AND on SNL And if I'm not mistaken, she's got some ameture musical theatre background

Not trying to diss Jessica Simpson here - I think she's hilarious myself - but the only reason she'd be a good Galinda is the ditz factor. And the fact that she is very pretty and popu-u-u-lar! But I can't really imagine her doing any kind of serious acting jobs, i.e. playing Glinda at the end.
