NO.. she wasn't , but I just got threw playing Evita and there was so much more she could have done with the character... not to mention the singing. "You must love me" really worked for her .. if it weren't for that song people probably wouldn't have appreciated how she performed or lack there of the character of EVITA. *steps off soapbox* I jsut would feel real sad to see someone else (an established movie star) as the roles that Idina and Kristin originated.

And Reese is my number one choice (after Cheno) for Glinda...and Ewan would be great. I loved him in Big Fish. And...I think Maggie Smith (from Harry Potter) would be an awesome Morrible and then have ... idk for the Wizard. Elijah for Boq and Natalie for Nessa (like people have said) and I think that (riffles thru mind to find a good *tall* actor) meh idk but i was trying to find someone for Dillamond. And little Miss Elphaba...I would say ... gosh i just dont know. i'm a bit in brain fart mode. ah well Tall actor for Dillamond... uhm... Liam Neeson? *shrugs*

I actually think Salma Hayek would make a great Elphaba (book, not musical). She definitely looks the part, and she's a strong, opinionated woman. Plus, Dee can giver pointers, now that they've done Ask The Dust together.

I think it would be funny to have Reese and Selma Blair get together as rivals again; as a Galinda and Elphaba -- Elle Woods and Vivian Kensington (from Legally Blonde) thing. I've always thought of Selma Blair as a bit of an Elphie-ish-looking person, a little. And Reese is definately a Galinda, probably b/c she looks so much like Kristin.

I don't know why I never thought of this before, but I think Catherine Zeta Jones would make a fabulous Elphie. Especially with all her beltin' skills (And aaaall thaaat JAAAAAAZZ!) haha. So if I were to cast the movie right now, it would be:
Elphaba: Catherine Zeta Jones Galinda: Reese Witherspoon Fiyero: Ewan McGregor OR Johnny Depp (just for the girls to swoon about) Boq: Elijah Wood Nessarose: Anne Hathaway (i love the princess diaries haha) Madame Morrible: Maggie Smith OR Bernadette Peters The Wizard: Still not sure...
I think Johnny Depp would be an interesting Fiyero...very dark haha.
*I forgot to mention, this would be if like, Kristin and Idina, Norbert, Joel etc weren't doing the movie, or like, a non-musical version. Yep, just clearing it up. It's not like I hate Kristin or anything haha*

Definitely got to go with Maggie Smith as Morrible (don't know that she'd do it though). What about Michael Crawford as the Wizard?

I think special effects could really be spectacular in this, really like go into the original series of books and accomplish what MGM couldn't in 1939. I don't know about CGI-ing the bubble though. If you do it like Billie Burke's was in the thirties Elphie's "whose invention was that anyway?" line really doesn't work the same because it would be magic and she has the Grimmerie. Defying Gravity would be a challenge, on stage it's kind of easier because the setting sort of changes a little, but if you did that on film Elphie would have to be like flying out of the Palace and into the Emerald City toward the end. And they absolutley CANNOT do what they're doing witht he Phantom movie and changing the plot order around. I understand why with Phantom, but you can't do that with Wicked. I really really hope if they're going to do this moive they do it in the next three years, otherwise you get a whole Phantom ordeal all over again where we'll be fighting to get Idina, Kristen, or both back and the producer's will say no or the actors won't have time....

If Idina, Kristin, Norbert, etc, were not available, I would definitly go with(this is the same as a LOT of ppl) Elphaba- Maybe Selma Blair? G(a)linda- Reese Witherspoon or Renee Zellewegger(awesome singer, and if u've seen 'bridget jones' she is a great comedic actress) Fiyero-Ewan McGregor Nessarose-Anne Hatahway( when I read this for whoever posted it, I could REALLY see it!) or Emmy Rossum Boq- Elijah Wood(that'd be hilarious!) Madame Morrible- definitly Maggie Smith The Wizard-What a hard question! I have no idea

After all, she is opera trained, so she could definately do NOMTW. Not sure about the comedic part of the role, but hey, that's what acting is all about.

that's a really good point, actually. I still haven't gotten the chance to see her in the Phantom movie, but from what I've heard, she can REALLY sing. Though, again, as you said, the comedic acting may not be the best for her. But she could learn

Well, actually, she could probably be a great comedian....I've just gotten used to seeing her in pictures and trailers as Christine, and she looks so - serious!lol, sorry I'm getting way too into this

Oh, and about the movie in general(sorry for all these posts, this is the last, I promise)I definitly think they're going to make a movie of this. They seem to be making movies of a lot of musicals - after Chicago's popularity- and with Wicked's rising demand, Hollywood is going to pick it up ASAP. I'm actually getting a little concerned with how many perfectly good shows are being brought to the big screen. I know they've already made Chicago, Phantom, are making RENT(with the original cast, though), and I also hear they were contemplating....I forget what it was. Probably nothing, actually.

I know they're making Hairspray for the movies, and I also knew of some others, but I can't remember them for the life of me.
