Yes- In a way I want them both to win the Tony because they're both amazing in their roles. However, I think Idina is the one who should win. Kristin's role is practically all comedy, she does grow in the 2nd act, but she's not the one who grows the most, sings the most, or has to go through the most. That's Idina. This is her role. She works so hard everyday and has been improving like hell in it. She started out amazing but now, even on a bad day, her portrail of Elphaba is tangibable. Everytime she is sad or mad you can feel it, even from the back row! So even though I love Kristin, and will still love her if she beats Idina, I think that Idina deserves it. Especially since she didn't get it last time.
About the Joel thing, I don't think they should nominate him. He does nothing in the show and his portrail is mediocre. Sure he's better then Robert Morse and it will be hard to replace him, but I think there is a better canidate. Norbert Leo Butz. He's grown a lot in the role and he does a great job in it. I think he has a better chance of getting it then Joel does.
About featured actress I'm starting to be okay with the fact that Carolle might be nominated. Although I think Michelle Federer would be a better choice I could understand why she wouldn't be nominated. It's just that her role, if not played by an amazing actress, could have been terrible and weak. In fact, if she was more well known, with her talent they might have even added a song for her.
Anyways, that's what I think.

Nominations come out April 10!
Seomeone worried me recently saying that when both Idina & Kristin are nominated, voters might "split the vote" and cancel each other out, leaving some other nominee with the win... that would SUCK!

That would really, REALLY suck. But MY personal opinion? Idina deserves it. Completely. I thought she deserved it for Rent, too, but I am a bit biased. Kristin is wonderfully talented, but everyone knows that if you're arguing between Kristin and Idina, the arguments are in favor of Idina. Of course, the "Popular" vote would be for Kristin, but I think all of us Wicked fans have learned that the popular one doesn't always come out on top with the things she wants (*cough*FIYERO*cough*). My fingers are crossed for Idina, because I really think she's worked for it so much harder than Kristin has (not to say that Kristin hasn't worked hard at it, because she has), but Idina is truly, truly deserving. I'd really like to see her take the Tony. COME ON TONY PEOPLE, BE GENEROUS! IDINA NEEDS A TONYTO PUT ON HER MANTLE TOO! And, think about it this way: Then she and Kristin can match  ~*Jennie*~ |

I think Kristin deserves the Tony. She has one as supporting actress but has yet to win one in the leading category. She's is brilliant and the most talented woman in the universe!

I think that the Leading Actress debate is quite possibly one of hardest things to decide. It's true that Idina sings more, but Kristin has to sing in such an incredible range. From her operatic high notes in "No One Mourns The Wicked" to "Popular" to her much much lower part in "For Good", as a singer myself I can't imagine that is very easy. On the other hand, Idina has to belt so much and bring so much emotion to Elphaba the entire show. Personally, I'm glad I don't have to choose . Anyway, about a Tony party, I think that would be awesome! Even if we can't physically get together, I think we should set up a chat room or something. That way we can all celebrate together when our favorite show sweeps the catagories ;D . ~~~Amy~~~ |

It's really hard! Idina's high note at the end of DG is awesome, but Kristin has a 4 octave range... this is so confusifying!

I think as far as the voting goes Kristin might win it. However, I think we all are pretty much in agreement that Idina deserves it. Kristin's role is easier to act then Idina's. I'm not saying Kristin doesn't act it well, because she does an amazing job, but it's easier for her to be good then it is for Idina. Also, Idina has grown so much in this role since it started and Kristin just knows when to stop for pauses better. I love Kristin, don't get me wrong, but if she wins I will be totally crused for a few minutes at least. Then I'll put on a good face, and then when I wake up I'll be happy for Kristin. Let's all keep our fingers crossed for Idina though!
Ooh, and fun fact. My graduation is on the date of the Tonys! Lol, that must be a good sign!

Hey I was watching the Oscars on the weekend and learned that prior winning has an affect on the voting system. Kinda shocked me. Does anyone know if the Tonys are the same? Cuz if so, maybe Kristin winning one already will boost Idina's chances. <keeping my fingers crossed cuz I'm rooting for Dee even though they both deserve it>

I wish I knew, but I hope so! Lol, this Tony thing is making me bitter! I normally love Kristin and Idina so much. But now, with the Tonys it's becoming all Idina...HELP!
