One of the scenes highlighted JFK, Martin Luther King, and John Lennon's words. Three girls stood down stage, dressed in black, bathed in blue light as they each took turns reciting poems, speeches, and lyrics before the rest of the cast joins them to sing "Imagine." Show goes great, get in the car, and my parents were all "Oh it was so much better then we thought it would be. We were so worried it would suck because it was written by high schoolers yada yada yada." Then they go into their favorite skits, and the most loved was the Imagine scene. My sister, who absolutely adores music, I mean, it's her life, says something along the lines of "Yeah, it was great. I love that song. I got JFK and MLK, but who was the third one?" "John Lennon" by dad answered. "Oh...who's that?" I seriously wanted to kill her. My father plays the fab four all the time. *le sigh* Oh well. She is my little Nessa/Galinda hybrid. Gah! Being as Beatles-obsessed as I am Wicked-obsessed, that saddens me beyond words! Not know John Lennon... *shakes head*

Last night was my last performance of 'Chronicals of Narnia: Lion, witch, and the wardrobe.' It was an intresting musical. I try out for Annie on the 16th, and then I try out for 'Joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat' the week after that. Fun stuff.

I'm torn...
Where I live, they're starting this Johnny Appleseed thing. It's a live, outdoor performance that will be recast and reperformed every year. I have a bunch of friends who were cast in it. I didn't do Appleseed because I really wanted to do King and I, performing in mid-August. But now there's this Broadway Kids thing (not the official Broadways Kids, mind you) where they do various songs from various musicals. I really want to do this as well, and it performs at the beginning of August.
So I can do either King and I or Broadway Kids. King and I will be choreographed/performed exactly as the movie is, and I've worked with the director many times before. However, this is his last year directing the summer show.
Broadway Kids will be new and I could probably learn a lot from it. I've never worked with the director before, and it's possible/probable he will return next year.
Help!
Thanks in advance!
A couple of notes: The King and I's director will be staying at least until next spring (directing the fall drama, winter musical, and spring comedy), but it is possible he will do 2005's summer show as well.
This director does everything like the movie -- when I did Music Man, all choreography was exactly like the movie's. So King and I will have the songs choreographed as the movie's -- stuff like that.

It kind of sounds like you want to do the King and I. What kinds of songs do the Broadway kids do? If they are doing good songs maybe you should do that. Otherwise I think you should do King and I.

Well, I may not be in a show, but everyone knows my motto is "Dancing Through Life", so I guess the kinda means my life is a show...and ya know, sometimes I feel like there's a whole group of people, sitting right where I can't see them, watching me...
*shakes head*
Never mind....if you'll excuse me, I must get back to my lady, Miss Galinda...she'd waiting for me backat Ozma Towers ;D

I'm going to audition for Kids on Broadway since I'd rather do that over King and I. If I don't make it into that, I will do King and I. Thanks though! BTW, I have no way of knowing what songs we will do until either auditions or if I'm cast.

I am in a show as of now...lol the chorus, no speaking lines, but hey its something. and besides thats the best part a freshman can get because it's all about seniority (sp?). the show is Oklahoma but our director type people are being uber-lazy and they keep canceling & rescheduling rehearsals so we still have a lot of work to do...

Good Luck!
My Good news... @ school I'm in a midsummer night's dream. First i was a fairy, and it was neat because they get to go in and out throughout the whole show and be really creepy and lurk and everything. Then I became an attendant to the duke and for that all i would do is hold a spear for a while and walk off stage. Then today sombody had to drop out and now I get to be Snug the joiner!!!! And he gets to be a lion!!!!

I'm currently in Once Upon a Mattress at my high school, but alas, I'm only in ensemble again...because casting at my school is political and I'm only a sophomore. But it is a blast and a half. Except for the heavy brocade medieval dresses, which when combined with dancing and stagelights equal sweating profusely and not a good time. I've done like 3 straight plays and 10 musicals since I was a kid. Theatre is my life, I honesty don't do anything else besides studying.

Our play went great! We got a standing ovation! Then after the show we cried because we realized that all the fun was over & it was our last play w/ our director Mrs. Berry, we all love her so much & none of us know what our High School director will be a like, but we all have great memories of our Middle School Plays.
