I agree...but do you think Idina will do it? What, with the RENT movie coming out? She may not want to get typecast as the girl who only does musical movies...

After all, she was in both Rent and Wicked broadway productions... and so why shouldn't she be in the movies as well? Besides, I'm sure a lot of people would want her to be in this movie if it came out.

And all musical movies are awesome anyway!Hope for a short wait for a "Wicked" movie (and one not based on the book,It's too confusing and mom wouldn't let me see it,I get to see Rent, though)!

Being one who was introduced to the musical by seeing it in a non-traditional way, not in the theater, I would agree it probably doesn't have the same punch as seeing it live. Then again sometimes movies can bring things to life a little better than stage can because it brings you out of the audience and into the show, more close ups and various angles...

If they make a movie, I hope it will be the musical. I have a feeling that if they make it from the book, it would be rated R. In which case I couldn't see it until a couple of years later!

Yeah, I agree. I'm reading the book now and in some parts I'm like ' ' LOL, but even if they *did* make it from the book, I *think* they *may* tone it down a bit due to the fact that so many people have seen the play and are going to want to see the movie, if it is ever made. But if its R, I'll just have my dad take me. ;D Since I've read the book, he'll be cool with it since I'll know what's happening and such. YAY FOR DAD'S! lol, anyway, I really do hope that they make a Wicked movie and it would be so cool to use the entire OBC! Well, that's my opinion anyway. Kelsey

i sort of wish it could be from the book, because the musical doesn't have enough of a plot for a movie (the plot is mostly told through song, and song loses its amazingness when not preformed live), and the book is alot deeper. but i hope they would tone it down A LOT (at least a PG-13, but not R, cause that would SUCK!!!) because, yes many fans who would want to see it couldnt.

what they could do is have all the stuff from the book, and then have it a musical so they could keep all of the songs and stuff-and-stuff.

I don't find that to be true. Yes, a lot of the fans here are under age to see a movie rated R, however many fans are older than seventeen - myself included. Also, the book has been out much longer than the movie and is a cult classic, and many, many people will be dissapointed if they do not make the book into a movie. Think of it this way; how many movies have been made out of the Phantom of the Opera? What, four, five? And how many of them are based on the movie? One. How many are based on the book, which is much darker than the musical and much more melodramatic? Three, four, and a huge number of miniseries.

The one based on the musical. I think that a combo would make the most sense - the musical's plot, * with Fiyero as the Scarecrow, Boq as the Tin Man, etc.* but an atmosphere and style similar to the third Harry Potter movie, thus getting the tone as well. Some other things from the book could be put back in - Liir, Crope and Tibbett, Yackle, and so on. I think the book Fiyero would be better as well, with the "triangle" with Sarima, rather than Glinda.

I think the book Fiyero would be better as well, with the "triangle" with Sarima, rather than Glinda. Also the Lon Chaney one, done well before the musical was even conceived. I really don't think it would work to have an amalgamation, to tell the truth. There would be too many conflicting plots. Yes, you may be able to change the plot to fit Sarima, but then if Fiyero gets turned into the scarecrow instead of being bludgeoned to death, then the meaning of the book would be gone, along with heralding in a totally new aspect from the book that those who haven't read it wouldn't be able to understand. And there will be many people who would be upset if you took out the Glinda/Fiyero/Elphaba love triangle. I think it would be nice to make a movie, but I think they should make the movie book-based, instead of musical based, and not have to worry about the rating because those who go to the movie to see it will, most likely, be old enough to go see it, or they'll be with someone old enough to see it.
